Ideation & Research Process
Before our team started brainstorming names for the Conditions-Based Decryption product, we conducted thorough research to ensure that the names accurately represent the product, are available for use and are not already used by another web3 company or product.
The following details our research process prior to product name ideation:
- Understand Threshold's target audience: Research Threshold's target audience and understand their preferences, interests, and values. This helps us remember to create a name that resonates with the current and future Threshold community members.
- Join Threshold discord and look through channels to understand general community members and culture
- Branding research: The name should align with Threshold's company's brand identity and values. It's important to consider how the name will fit into your overall branding strategy.

- The following are the main ideas that we wanted the name to encompass
- Threshold is reliable, safe, sturdy, serious and spotless, but approachable, human, not robotic, and not arrogant.
- Empower the target audience to choose threshold cryptography and explain the benefits of using a truly decentralized protocol versus other competing protocols.
- Threshold is…
- Elite but not arrogant
- Sophisticated but not soulless
- Approachable but not over-simplified
- Witty, young, and innovative but not immature
- Name legitimacy analysis: During our brainstorming, we researched whether 1) the suggested is similar to any existing product or company name and 2) whether the name is unique and stands out in the market.
